Born in the arctic circle in Russia, and subsequently moving to Moscow and then Prague at the age of five, left Zherdeva with an 'uprooted' cultural and geographical background.

Her work explores the relation of the human body to a landscape. Zherdeva strives to recreate the immersive qualities of nature in her paintings. She does it through the use of panoramic format, colour and light.

Zherdeva's paintings are tales about 'honest lies'. They are a translation of her personal experiences of different landscapes and made-up memories. Combined together on a two dimensional surface they create a three dimensional space within a viewer's mind, turning them into a body in a landscape.
